Bought for Darren from Method in Madness's birthday after I killed the Pink 'Smash Hits' guitar I got him on my first go.

Added a pitch knob for ultrafast&ultraslow. Added an LED inside because originally I was going to have the front open allowing the insides to be touched with a finger for weird effects, but decided it was best to keep the button on..

Worth every goddamn penny :P

Some great noises on this, really catchy startup jingle too :P. Two-note polyphonic with sustain, 8 different instrument noises (some pretty full-sounding and good ones too). A bunch of different rhythms/loops, doubled-up on the loop button too. Nothing too inspiring but pretty interesting nonetheless..

Great little unit this, plenty of different noises to be had out of it before even adding ultrahigh/slow pitch. Filled with techno and dancey-sounding samples rather than Jingle Bells, this can make some really quite usable noises!

Mods

My unit (which differs internally from similar toys I've seen on the net) has two black blob processors, one that plays the rhythms/loops and 'scratch pad' noises, and one that plays the 13-note keyboard and drum pad noises. Each has a resistor controlling p…

This is just a quick wiki by me (doctea) to document what I've been doing with circuit bending and my circuit bent toys.

Sure to succumb to the 'under construction, please check back' kiss of doom....

Bought off ebay for £20.

Stock functionality

Only one set of sounds, very 80s sounding. MIDI input, claims output too, but that only seems to be able to send a midi clock signal or dump out the memory to another RX21 so haven't figured out if/how you can use it to trigger midi notes. I suspect you can't as the manual is a bit vague on the details of its 'MIDI output functionality'. Still a nice little machine, lots of fun to record rhythms on.
