Welcome to the web site for Clotted Cream, a semi-regular night of trance and hard dance which is put on in the function room at Kenney's Bar in Hinckley, Leicestershire, England, UK.
THE STORY SO FAR...
Well I suppose I'll have to put something on the info page as no body else appears to want to do it.
Let's try a short history of the events leading up to Clotted Cream:
It really started nearly 40 years ago when I made my first attempt at being capitalist entrepreneur in the entertainment industry by running:
-
The "BACK DOOR FOLK CLUB" 1967 - 1968
Can you guess which door we entered The Angel Inn at Atherstone through? One free guest ticket for the first right answer.
We ran for 40 weeks and made a profit on precisely 2 nights!
-
The "SOGGYPEE DISCO" 1969 - 1970
Again in Atherstone this was probably the nearest I came to making my million.
The sessions were held at the New Swan, an ordinary disco (soul, motown etc.) on Mondays and a "Progressive Night " (Pink Floyd, Family etc.) on Sundays.
But unfortunately I tried to be a DJ as well and was not very good so by the end of the year we had made a £33 loss.
-
The "HUNGRY FREAKS" 1971 - 1972
This was the next big step forward as we hired Atherstone Memorial Hall and promoted such artists as Genesis, Hawkwind, and Pink Fairies etc. Whilst this was great fun for us hippies, cos the Hungries were a sort of hippy cooperative, we could never get a large enough crowd to cover the costs, so in some ways it was a bit of a relief when the pigs (that was our preferred word for our local constabulary) decided to close us down.
And that was it for the next thirty years apart from a few guest appearances at events such as the "WIDE OPEN BEAVER" concerts at the Mile Oak Hotel in Tamworth and a few other odds and sods. I was never even paid travel expenses for these gigs.
Then last year, after I had taken early retirement, the itch returned: I still wanted to make my first million - my son and his mates were doing their stuff on the decks - I like the music and the excitement it generates - we had a suitable room to hire - we begged and hired equipment - and hey presto I was at it again with:
Hope you all enjoy the "YOGHURT", Love and Peace - SOGGYPEE aka THE HUNGRY FREAK aka MICK.
